ESRA Diploma Status report ESRA mid term Board meeting April 3rd Oporto 2009 The ESRA Diploma has been well received and the numbers of candidates taking the exam has increase each year. But with this specific concerns have been raised, relating to the lack of published curriculum, lack of consistency of multiple choice questions and the vivas. Also the need for clear information relating to what constitutes an accredited course, as compulsory attendance of at least two ESRA courses is obligatory for the diploma in its present form.
The ESRA Diploma WILL continue in its present form for 2009, but for 2010 significant changes will be implement to improve the Diploma.
The present Diploma sub-committee will over the next 2 months rule on the following points. • A defined curriculum for the Diploma
• The formation of an independent examination board
• The format and development of course accreditation
This sub-committee will report with their initial findings to the ERSA executive board by June 16th 2009 and then proposed changes to the Diploma will be presented at the Salzburg AGM in September 2009.
NO COURSES OTHER THAN THOSE OFFICIALLY ADVERTISED AS ESRA / ESRA UK& IRELAND WILL BE ACCREDITED FOR THE ESRA DIPLOMA TILL AFTER SALZBURG 2009 – SOME COURSES MAY GET RETROSPECTIVE RECOGNITION AFTER SALBURG. BUT THIS SHOULD NOT STOP INDIVIDUALS APPLYING FOR THE DIPLOMA AS THEY HAVE TWO YEARS TO ATTEND TWO ESRA COURSES.
Updates on the diploma status will follow as information is received
